OnPath Together: Our development approach

OnPath Together is about doing the right thing for people and the planet. It’s about playing our part in a just transition to a net zero future that is fair and inclusive for everyone.

It is a set of values and commitments that guide how we work together with communities, each other, and our business partners as we play our part in securing a just transition to net zero future for all of the UK.

Together to a greener future

You can now read our 2025 OnPath Together sustainability report.

2025 has been a busy year for OnPath Energy, we’ve fully embraced our new company name and identity and are continuing to strive towards our goal to become the UK’s leading renewable energy developer.

In the pipeline is a diverse portfolio of new projects with a total capacity of over 3GW and construction is now underway for our Barnsdale Solar Park near leads, Common Farm Solar Park near Rotherham, and our newest wind farm, Mill Rig in South Lanarkshire. Combined, these three projects have a generation and storage capacity of around 206MW, enough to power over 80,000 homes annually.

This report serves as a snapshot of highlights, demonstrating a selection of our 16 ESG commitments in action. Where relevant, we also include forward looking aspirations and projections, reflecting the long-term commitments we make and long-lasting benefits that our renewables projects deliver to communities, local economies and the environment.

By continuing to work together with communities, business partners and each other, we aim to deliver more efficient and innovative renewables projects that will help to lower consumer energy bills, improve the UK’s energy security and support the delivery of a just transition that is fair and inclusive for everyone.

OnPath Together to a just transition

Building community value

We are committed to helping everyone embrace the benefits of renewable energy by making long-term commitments to ensure the communities surrounding our projects benefit from their presence.

We work with and listen to the needs, challenges and aspirations of local people because we care about local priorities. We build long term relationships built on integrity and trust meaning that our projects tackle the issues that matter most to local people.

OnPath Together to a just transition

Supporting local businesses

When developing project proposals, we consider how things are connected, we see the bigger picture and always look to prioritise local contractors wherever possible to build community and economic value.

We strive to maximise the economic benefits our work brings to local economies, and we use distance from our sites as a key part of the tendering process when we decide who to work with.

OnPath Together: Climate change and nature positive

Caring for the environment

We take a nature-positive approach to all we do, creating solutions that tackle climate change head-on and improve local habitats.

We take a holistic approach to development, taking a big picture view with every aspect of a project from design to operation.

By working together with local communities, we identify priorities for the environment, and by working with environmental specialists deliver on the commitments we make as we aim for the highest possible environmental standards through innovation and continuous improvement.

Developing Together

Looking after our people

Our people are our superpower and the team at OnPath Energy has decades of experience and expertise in land and energy, they are the backbone of what makes us one of the UK’s leading renewables developers.

Our people plan “Developing Together” is a core part of our OnPath Together approach. It includes a development programme that nurtures and develops talent and skills, creates a working environment that makes health, safety and wellbeing a priority and provides fairly paid and sustainable employment in a stimulating environment as we strive to be the employer of choice in the renewable energy sector.

We treat everyone equitably, fairly and with respect cultivating a diverse, inclusive and supportive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.

We are committed across all of our projects to having a net-positive impact when it comes to climate change and biodiversity and we consider early on in the design process what interventions we can employ to achieve that. As a matter of principle, we aim to leave the land that we develop better than how we find it. That’s really what OnPath Together for the environment is all about.
