OnPath Energy is has recently completed construction to Kype Muir Wind Farm, adding an extra 67.2 MW of generation capacity, enough to power 53,700 more homes.
The site will also deliver significant benefits to the local communities, totalling more than £21M during its lifespan. Following extensive community engagement, the proposed plans for the Kype Muir Extension will result in an additional 15 turbines placed at the site, generating enough renewable electricity to power a total of 123,700 homes when combined with the existing Kype Muir turbines.

About
The project
Kype Muir Extension is an addition to the existing Kype Muir Wind Farm, located approximately 7.5km south of the town of Strathaven.
Kype Muir and its Extension are flagship projects for OnPath Energy. They demonstrate the power of Community Partnering to maximise the social, environmental, and economic benefits of onshore wind farms. Through such partnerships, the benefits are shared fairly between the operator, local authority and most importantly, the communities surrounding the project.

Establishing our first Community Partnership
Creating value with communities
We created our first Community Partnering proposal at Kype Muir Wind Farm in 2019, with the aim of ensuring communities take their own share of the wind farm revenues to invest in their local area, tackling the issues specific to them. This group is the Kype Muir Community Partnership (KMCP) and it receives funding from both Kype Muir and Kype Muir Extension Wind Farms.
The KMCP represents the five community council areas which are local to Kype Muir, and each area has two representatives on the panel. If you are interested in applying for a grant, your first action should be to contact your local community council to discuss your proposal and get their support through the process.
You can find the relevant contact details in the fund guidelines below, as well as more information on the great work the KMCP do in their local area.
