OnPath Energy, a leading UK renewable energy developer, is pleased to announce its participation in Brookfield’s global framework agreement with Microsoft Corporation to deliver over 10.5 gigawatts of renewable energy.
The agreement provides a pathway for Brookfield to deliver over 10.5 gigawatts of new renewable energy capacity between 2026 and 2030 in the US and Europe, and gives Microsoft access to a pipeline of new renewable energy capacity to support the growing demand for cloud services at home and at work.
OnPath Energy (formerly Banks Renewables) already has more than three GW of renewable energy generation and energy storage capacity in its pipeline, including 11 operational onshore wind farms across Scotland and northern England with a generation capacity of around 290MW.
It intends to allocate projects from its wind and solar pipeline to support the Microsoft framework contract. Specific projects will be identified and announced in due course.
Richard Dunkley, CEO at OnPath Energy, says: “We are excited to be part of this landmark agreement, which supports the growing demand for renewable energy driven by the adaptation of AI and build-out of data centres.
“This agreement demonstrates the additional benefits for OnPath of being a Brookfield portfolio company.”
