OVERALL OBJECTIVES:
Proactively manage the health and safety on operational projects ensuring that the relevant OnPath Energy health and safety policies are applied. Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements, deliver site Inductions, Supervise Contractors where required and carry out sample safety audits. An Electrical background is preferred, as the ideal candidate must be willing and comfortable at becoming an Authorised Person following training and onsite experience allowing them to become part of a the HV on call rota covering all our assets. Following this, becoming a Senior Authorised Person is next development stage.
Maximise the long-term financial returns of the operational projects by maximising power generated and controlling operational costs.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Carry out monthly site and HV equipment inspections and produce a monthly inspection report with action plans for defects/planned works.
- Implement OnPath Energy’s Safety Policies and procedures into daily working, whilst contributing to our continuous improvement plan.
- Produce manage and supervise the annual maintenance plan.
- Plan annual civils budgets ensuring these are adhered to.
- Adhere to company procurement policies and raise relevant purchase orders.
- Review contractors RAMs and oversee their activities on site.
- Review and enhance O&M strategies and activities with a view to reduce down-time
- Provide a 0600 – 2200 x 365days HV/Emergency on-call out service on a rota basis with a maximum 4-hour response to site (1 week in 8).
- Attend and contribute to external stakeholder/O&M meetings.
- Following authorisations, prepare and review HV switching schedules, perform HV switching, isolation and safety documentation issue as a Senior Authorised Person for OEM and Balance of Plant maintenance and fault repair works.
- Co-ordinate all works on site with support from the Control Room
- Keep site asset registers, risk registers and action plans up to date
- Report on performance and delivery of plans to stakeholders
- Support handover process of wind farms from Construction to Operations
Support the development of Operations towards a class leading 280MW+ renewable operation.
Manage stakeholder relationships on the operational projects including community liaison and management of complaints. This is delivered with support from the Community Team. Manage the local operational interface with Landowners.
Feedback lessons learnt from operational projects to the Development and Construction teams.
Support other Wind Farm Managers with management of their sites, covering holiday, sickness, HV work or peaks in workload.
Within the skills and capabilities of the job holder; support the Renewables Development team and or other Group companies with progressing projects. Examples could include site finding or assessment, property site inspections or monitoring.
Report progress against agreed objectives to the Operations and Grid Director. Ensure that management information and KPI’s in respect of your responsibilities and work are produced monthly to show progress against targets.
Analyse operational performance and act on results including feedback of learning to development teams
Actively promote the image of the OnPath Energy to ensure we are regarded as a first-class company.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Regular travel will be required to the operating windfarm sites in Scotland. Occasional travel to operating wind farm sites in the North-West, North-East and Yorkshire, as well as the Head Office near Durham and our Scottish office in Bellshill. The incumbent will be expected to undertake light manual duties whilst on site as required and may occasionally be required to work at height. He/she will also be expected to create accurate and timely asset efficiency reports and attend review meetings with all internal and external stakeholders. The Wind Farm Manager will operate with minimum supervision, and the freedom to make decisions based upon technical and operational knowledge/guidelines and safe working practices.
TECHNICAL SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL:
- Minimum of HNC Electrical Engineering/Electronics or an equivalent
- Authorised Person HV Switchgear [or capability to achieve this status]
- IOSH Managing Safety or equivalent qualified
- Proven track record of managing or supervising sub-contractors
- At least 2 years’ experience in a field-based role
- Experience of renewable project performance analysis and improvement
- Experience in a process or power generation environment is desirable
- Experience of Solar, Wind, or Storage operations or development is desirable
- Full, clean driving licence
