Mill Rig Community Fund
We establish community benefit funds for all of our projects to make sure that local people see meaningful community investments which reflect the priorities of their community. For Mill Rig Wind Farm, community funds are managed by the Mill Rig Community Panel and they lead the decision making on grant funding.

An innovative approach
Empowering cross-community collaboration
The Mill Rig Community Panel is made up of representatives from both South Lanarkshire & East Ayrshire communities. They represent Sandford & Upper Avondale, Muirkirk, Darvel, New Milns & Greenholm and Sorn community council areas.
The fund will be administered by South Lanarkshire Council, and both South Lanarkshire Council & East Ayrshire Council will support the day-to-day operation of the fund.
Building community value
The fund totals approximately £167,000 per year and will rise every year in line with inflation. Applications can be made on an ongoing basis via South Lanarkshire Council’s website, up to a maximum of £20,000.
This is an open fund with no deadlines, applications can be made at any point throughout the year.
Each of the community council areas that make up the Mill Rig Community Panel also manage a micro-grant initiative of up to £500 to support smaller projects. Applications for this kind of support can be made directly to the community council themselves.
