Building long term relationships that deliver

Delivering for local businesses

Over the years we have worked with residents, communities, and local businesses in East Ayrshire as we shaped our proposals for the now consented Lethans and Lethans Extension Wind Farms in East Ayrshire. We take pride in building and maintaining long-term relationships, enabling open transparent conversations to ensure we listen and develop to a high standard together.

Campbell Duncan, owner of Duncan Plant Hire.

As a local business located little over two miles from the site, we’re the perfect example of the benefits wind farms can create for local businesses and the positive impact they can deliver for the community. It’s been a great experience for us to be part of such an important green project.

Community decarbonisation pilot

Making energy more affordable

Community consultation showed strong desire to tackle energy costs, particularly for those living closest to the wind farm.

Glen Water will fund a first‑of‑its‑kind community decarbonisation pilot in East Ayrshire, providing fully funded energy‑efficiency upgrades for homes within 2km, including insulation, modern heating and solar panels.

The pilot will make energy more affordable, create local jobs by using trusted local contractors and up skill local people to carry out insulation, solar and other energy related works. The aim is to scale it across nearby communities through the Glen Water community benefit fund, building community wealth and supporting fuel poverty goals aligned with East Ayrshire Council’s CoRE project

Working together to tackle local challenges

Making a difference in your community

If approved Glen Water will deliver £8.6 million in community benefit funding over the lifetime of the wind farm, working in partnership with the 9CC Group to ensure investment is shaped and led by local people.

The community will receive a gifted 1% stake in the project, providing a long term income linked to its success, alongside investment in local skills with at least ten £500 educational bursaries as part of the project to support local young people in education or training.

Over £6 million has been channelled to local communities to date through our wind farm community funds across Scotland & England. Community funding helps communities like Abington revolutionise facilities and the lives of local people.

A great example is Abington Old School House. This community led project was made possible thanks to a £149,000 Renewable Energy Fund Grant with fund generated by our Middle Muir Wind Farm and managed by South Lanarkshire Council. Over £1.9 million has been awarded to community led projects through the REF by OnPath Energy wind farms.
