Together<\/strong> development approach, our team have been busy working with the local people, community bodies and consultants to identify local priorities and create a project that is <strong>more represent communities across the <strong>Cumnock &amp; Doon Valley<\/strong> to ensure that you get the most from Glen Water&#8217;s annual community benefit fund, which could total around <strong>\u00a310.3 million <\/strong>over <strong>40 years<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow wp-block-column-is-layout-flow\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image hosting community council areas of <strong>New Cumnock, Netherthird, Lugar, Logan and Cronberry<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-column is-layout-flow advertised on social media including <strong>829 <\/strong>pieces of written feedback.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n    <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n<section \n    id=\"community\"\n matters<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading heading-h2 mb-md-auto mb-6\">Benefiting your community<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-medium\">Community feedback has played a central role in shaping <strong>Glen Water Wind Farm<\/strong> proposals. Through early engagement and a blend of in person and digital consultations, local people made clear that the project should deliver tangible benefits, celebrate history and heritage, support the local economy and place nature at the heart of the design. In response, Glen Water has evolved through an iterative design process, ensuring that the final proposals reflect what communities told us mattered most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the most visible outcomes of this feedback is a refined wind farm design. The <strong>number of turbines<\/strong> has been <strong>reduced<\/strong> from <strong>eight to six<\/strong>, <strong>turbine heights<\/strong> have been <strong>lowered<\/strong>, and the <strong>layout<\/strong> has been <strong>adjusted<\/strong>. These changes directly address concerns around landscape and visual impact, while enabling the project to deliver clean, renewable energy <strong>helping tackle climate change<\/strong> and <strong>support the transition to net zero<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Feedback also highlighted strong priorities around <strong>affordable energy<\/strong>, <strong>biodiversity<\/strong> and <strong>access to the land<\/strong>. As a result, <strong>the proposal<\/strong>s now <strong>include practical interventions<\/strong> such as a <strong>decarbonisation pilot<\/strong> to <strong>help lower household energy costs*<\/strong>, <strong>habitat restoration, peatland protection<\/strong> and <strong>enhanced access<\/strong> including <strong>15km of new pathways <\/strong>made up of <strong>12km of nature and heritage trails<\/strong> ensuring that <strong>Glen Water<\/strong> <strong>delivers lasting benefits<\/strong> for both people and planet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, local people were clear that Glen Water should contribute meaningfully to East Ayrshire\u2019s economy. reached out to the three hosting Community Council primary schools to take part in an exciting site naming competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We received a lot of positive engagement, and some great names which were shortlisted and put to a public vote on our social media channels.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Glen Water Wind Farm <\/strong>was the chosen name and if approved will become the official name of the site for years to come!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size\"><strong>Why the children of Netherthird chose &#8216;Glen Water<\/strong>&#8216;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>&#8220;We learned that in Scotland a Glen is a narrow valley. There are lots of local places that have Glen in their name, like Glenafton, Glenburn and Glenmuir so we thought this would be a good one.
