Local heritage<\/h6>\n\n\n\n

Helping communities understand, value, care for and enjoy local heritage<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Through our projects at OnPath Energy, we support the conservation and enhancement of local environments and help communities strengthen their sense of place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The area surrounding Bodinglee has a rich history and heritage. Our approach will complement the wider picture of cultural heritage in the region, using local heritage sites and expertise to both conserve and enhance local landmarks and areas of historical interest. We will also help to strengthen the connection local people have to the place they call home and make some practical improvements to the area.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\n Heritage and land-based jobs and skills >\n \n <\/h6>\n

We will support local skills and roles in traditional heritage and land-based jobs by hiring and contracting locally for restoration and land-based work that forms part of the Bodinglee project. This will provide new jobs in sustainable roles and traditional areas of expertise specific to the region.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Local connectivity >\n \n <\/h6>\n

We will create safe, multi-use travel links for walking and cycling between Rigside, Roberton and Douglas, including the creation of new routes through the Bodinglee site. This will provide safer, easier and more sustainable transport routes between communities. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Restoring community heritage assets >\n \n <\/h6>\n

We will restore local historical buildings to bring them back into public use, and where possible, community ownership. This will also help boost local tourism.\r\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Douglas Valley improvements > \n \n <\/h6>\n

We will enhance the designed landscape surrounding the remains of Douglas Castle, working closely with the estate and local bodies to improve the area and encourage more visitors.\r\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Roberton Drove Roads >\n \n <\/h6>\n

We will re-establish parts of the historic Roberton Drove Road within the site which is used to connect Douglas to Roberton, and will provide links with other core paths in the area.\r\n<\/p>\n <\/div>\n

\n Enhanced access >\n \n <\/h6>\n

We will introduce new signage, way-marking and information boards for local heritage assets around the site.\r\n\r\nThis will provide enhanced public access, making it easier for locals and tourists to connect with the areas local heritage. <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n\n

Finding a better way together<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve worked closely with the community and local experts to design a range of initiatives to bring this heritage to the forefront. We will deliver each of these as part of the project, aiming to make this an even more attractive place both for tourists visiting the area and the local communities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
